With the need for emissions profiles and environmental markets rapidly growing traction, environmental benchmarking has become an essential tool to ensure integrity and consistency in tracking of change.
The La Trobe program is a research project that developed data collection systems and a way of benchmarking environmental data. The account developed for Woomargama was showcased at the field day in November and there were a couple of standouts already, including:
* 5-year groundcover trends that showed amazing stability and resilience despite the seasonal conditions.
* Across the whole project (50 farms Vic/NSW), they consistently found 70% of the expected bird species for the area in the surveys
